Album Notes

Mary Hopkin continues to explore her archives, dust off some long-forgotten recordings and sends them out to air and to see the light of day in a new album of old songs. Recollections contains a further 11 gems recorded between 1970 and 1986, including two of Mary's own, 'Another Day' and 'Who's the One?'

"There were about 30 hefty 2-inch tapes weighing heavily on my mind, and also on my bedroom ceiling," recalls Mary. "They had been gathering dust in my loft for many years, and one morning, I woke up to an ominous creaking sound, as a huge crack appeared in the ceiling. So, with some prodding from my daughter, Jessica, we decided to release them from their dusty boxes before the ceiling fell in."

The tracks on these 'Archive' albums are produced by Tony Visconti. Some other legendary names appear on the album - Blue Weaver (Amen Corner) on piano, Dave Mattacks (Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention) and Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull) on Drums, and Bruce Lynch (Cat Stevens, Richard Thompson) on bass.

The original recordings were digitally remixed and remastered at Space Studios.

Who's the One?

Who's the one you love
Who's the one you run to
When you're feeling down and out, oh
And the wheel of life is forever turning, turning
Sends my thoughts spinning round, oh

If I could see what the mystery is all about
I would be free I wanna let my feelings out
I wanna let my feelings out, oh

Round and round and round...

And the wheel of life is forever turning, turning
Sends my thoughts a-spinning round, oh

If I could see what the mystery is all about
I would be free I wanna let my feelings out
I wanna let my feelings out, oh

Never knew I never...

Who's the one you love
Who's the one you run to
When you're feeling down and out, oh

Another Day

Here's another day, stealing the time away
I wish the night would last forever
Wishing you could stay
There's so much more to say

Here's another dream
Catch it while you may
For your dream is like the flower
Fading with the day
Now it dies away
Takes my love away

And I've loved him for so long
More than he will ever know
And on the wind he's flying
And now my heart is sighing
Home is where I wanna be right now

Oh now you're here my love
Time is standing still
Don't ever think that I would leave you
You know I never will
You know I never will
I never will
I never will
